Exhibition Stand Design

Turkeybuild Fair 2016, In collaboration with Berk Olçum (Industrial Designer)
The award winner exhibition stand is demanded by Berk Olçum (owner) to meet their needs for fair as well as to express their high end design and production understanding. The design process was in highly collaborative with the production process. The design needs to be cost effective and to express the abilities of the steel workshop in 5x6 meters rented stand space.

Its challenges are not only pushing square meters; but also multi-purpose use of the stand with different kinds of material use in collaboration with steel; as well as various uses of steel and high-end finish productions.

There are several areas in the stand which were produced to use afterwards in the workshop afterwards. The components were designed according to their needs of representation in the fair as well as in their workshop. Their main material is steel, however their main productions are staircase. That's why they also needed to exhibit their other components such as steps, parapets (various designs which would multiply by time), and their masterful examples.

The design of the stand focuses on the firm's ability on hard-to-achieve techniques on steel processing, that's why in the centrepiece there is a monumental staircase installation suggested. Berk Olçum designed the staircase installation. The colouring and production techniques were formed with the rising trends of its contemporaries: in glamorous concept of the stand with black and gold. Curvilinear corner was designed to emphesize the staircase installation, and art-deco mirrors create a kaleidoscope effect which would show the installation from different perspectives. The corner also holds the parapet design examples on a rail system, like a wave offset of the circular staircase installation. The floor is covered with CNC patterned steel sheets emphesizing the installation and the creative use of steel in different perspectives. The background was created partly with concrete, partly with curtain to dramatise the view. Lighting was designed as soft as possible and dark ambience was created.
The design included those components: for steps, a stand designed for various timber, marble and steel cladding examples which was cut and formed according to the design pattern.
